Did you think it was over? Did you think I would let the Animorphs win? Well, then, you are mistaken. I would like to introduce you to your new reality. The Yeerks are back, and all those Animorphs that flew away to save Aximili are gone. Only Cassie remains; she was lucky to be left behind. Not that it really matters, Visser One is leading the charge once again and this time, I win.

But where is the fun when the fight is already over? That miserable girl, one of the Ellimist's champions, has managed to stir up a resistance, aided by her supply of animal DNA and Escafil devices procured from the Andalites.

So it seems that when you wake up in your holocaust reality, that there is hope? Ah hope, such a frail human thought. Still, you have something to fight for, and that always makes for the most amusing squirming when you are crushed. Good luck.

Description:

Matthias stands at 5'9", but often seems a lot shorter because he tends to stand very hunched over. He has an unremarkable physical stature; he is not overly fat nor thin, not muscular nor frail. He is neither particularly tall nor short, and his hair, which he keeps casually short, is a very plain dark brown, as are his eyes.

Matthias has no tattoos, no piercings, nothing of any kind to set him apart in a crowd. People often pass him by without realizing he was even standing there in the first place, earning him the nickname of the Invisible Man among his friends.

Personality:
Matthias is a tough nut to crack and a hard person to read. He doesn't normally let his emotions show in his face or his eyes at all, but he's been known to scare the crap out of people he looks at when he's angry.

Matthias takes his natural camouflage to be a gift, rather than a curse, and does everything possible to remain unremarkable. His ability to move around undetected allowed him to be privy to a lot of conversations he probably shouldn't have, but as a result, he's often very talented at knowing when he is being lied to. One thing that emerged from this, that his parents often said was a downside, and he often said was a good side, was Matthias' ability to let go of anything. Nothing is ever precious or invaluable to him; all things are expendable to varying degrees. As far as he could see it, the only thing he gave up was romance, and that wasn't of much interest to him. He had little trouble adjusting to life after the Dracon explosion hit.

Matthias is a very quick judge of people; within five seconds he knows whether he will be friends with a person or not. He kept several 'surface friends' before the attacks, but he has not let someone get close to him in a very long time. He doesn't really have a reason for doing this; his upbringing was loving and kind, if a little bland. He just harbours an inherent distrust of people, and that has manifested itself in his aloof and uncaring front.

Matthias also has a wonderful instinct for guesses, mostly about people. He would continually disapprove of boyfriends or girlfriends that his friends thought were wonderful, and each time he had to sit back and watch as his friend got hurt. However, despite his track record, he constantly second-guesses himself, and continues to do so about his decision to accept becoming a leader in his area of the new Animorphs. That being said, he is also a very determined perfectionist, and since he did accept his position, he intends to fulfill it to the best of his ability.

Matthias is intelligent, but not in the same way that someone who scored a perfect score on a SAT would be considered intelligent. Matthias has the intelligence that comes with ruthlessness; he can see from point A to point B clearly, without worrying about the fact that it may not be the morally best path.

Bio/History:

Matthias grew up in a small town just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. His parents both worked, leaving Matthias to mostly raise himself, an only child. When they came home, May and Tristan - or at least, that's what he tells people their names were - were loving and affectionate to little Matty, but often distant. Matthias, rather than resent them for this, grew up to be like them; kind to those who meant something to him, but always detached and alone.

His parents both died in the Dracon attack that hit Vancouver; he discovered their home in ruins when he went to check on them, having moved out the year before. All alone in the world, Matthias wandered, and his instincts kept him away from the Yeerk concentration camps. Cassie eventually found him and charged him with leading the resistance in the area. He knew who she was - he had watched the news - and accepted without a second thought at the time.
