Name: Raven (last name not given)
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Description:
Raven stands at a short, 5''3, with an immensely petite physique. It has often been said she has the figure of a ballerina, long legs, a small bust, and a slender waist. This is slightly ironic however, since she looks nothing like a ballerina. Her pitch black hair is kept in a short bob-like do, and is oftentimes styled slightly messy. It tends to frame her small, round face very well. As for her eyes, they are also a darker brown color, often times changing to a warmer brown when happy, or excited. She also has a small tattoo of a black raven on her right shoulder blade, which is her signature morph.
Overall her appearance gives off a slightly sinister and dark vibe, however she is anything but that. It probably does not help that she tends to stick to darker clothing, and the fact that her skin is exceptionally fair and delicate looking. Raven can easily be described as a darker, mysterious beauty, rather than your typical classic one. Oftentimes she is overlooked because of this. When she smiles however, she stops people in their tracks. Her smile reaches all the way to her eyes, making her far more approachable.
Personality: At first glance she looks cold and rather sad, but if anyone can get past that and actually talk to her they will soon find out otherwise. Raven is an exceptionally friendly, kind young woman, despite her family upbringing. That is not to say, she opens up to people right away however, it may take several conversations before she's completely comfortable. In most cases she does not approach people first, and stands off the the side, having learned early on most people fear or dislike her aura. That being said, if someone doesn't bother to discover more about her, then she has no problem leaving it at that. Those that do befriend her however, have quite possibly made one of the greatest friends. Raven finds herself being empathic, and so feels a need to comfort others, putting them before herself oftentimes.
Raven also is incredibly intelligent, far beyond most her age. She has a knack for being very resourceful as well, able to come up with multiple solutions to any problem. Raven also tends to throw herself into things full heartedly, being the absolute best she can. It's the perfectionist in her coming out. She also likes to take control of situations, being a natural-born leader. Raven sees no problem taking on tasks that others might shrink away from. She would rather take on a tough task than take the easy way out. Challenges are always welcomed.
Bio/History: Raven was born into a small family, having only one younger sister, in the city of New York. Growing up was incredibly difficult for her, as both she and her sister watched their alcoholic father beat their mother, and even them countless nights. There were several nights that their father had beaten their mother so badly, that he couldn't pleasure himself--to put it bluntly--and so he instead moved on to his daughters. Life was a constant torment of waiting and listening for their father, hiding under their beds, and crying themselves to sleep. Oftentimes Raven would try to gather her fathers attention, especially when he was in one of his moods, allowing her sister to escape unharmed--going to their neighbor, Riley's home. Eventually her mother ended up abandoning them, no longer able to take the abuse. Raven never forgave her.
The only escape Raven got from home was when she spent time with her childhood friend, Riley. He was the most wonderful person she had ever met, and the two were very close. After each encounter with her father, Raven went to Riley, and he helped clean her up. If it weren't for him, she probably wouldn't have made it out quite the same. You could even say they were in love, although immature, and naive, but love none-the-less.
Life went onward, cycles of beatings and then visits with Riley, until her father went too far one day, and despite all Raven's efforts, ended up killing her younger sister, Amelia. After that Raven had no reason to stay, and she ran away from home, at the ripe age of 17. But she didn't travel too far, staying with Riley for the most part. Ironically enough her father never figured it out, and was arrested soon thereafter. Child protective custody came and retrieved her--against her will--from Riley's home and she was forced into foster care. From there she ran away, unable to say goodbye to her best friend, for fear of being captured again.
Along her travels she bumped into Cassie, and this was right around the time that the world began to fall apart. That was the day she became an Animorph. Seeing at as a new challenge, Raven eagerly took on the new ability.
It did not take long for her to fall into step with her powers, being a natural, as she was with most things. As a quick learner, there were few things she could not master quickly. Once she had the experience under her belt, she began looking for others to change, there was a war going on, more Animorphs were needed. Cassie had left her with a Morphing Cube, and Raven was determined to find others to share the gift with.
The first place she went to visit was her hometown of New York, to see Riley. Once there she found that he had been killed. This affected her as much as her sister's death did, and she found herself flying about in her Raven form for quite some time. She nearly reached the two-hour limit, and if it were not for her sense of responsibility, she would have gotten stuck in the morph forever. Alas, she knew the world needed her, and she returned to human form, and continued on in her travels searching for new recruits. Soon she decided upon the city of Chicago as her base.
